Happy New Year Nobody

This is a picture of sunrise over the port of Fukude in Iwata City Japan, January 1st 2007. The family all got up at 4 am to head over to the "Morning Meeting" of the Japan Society for Ethical Living by 4:30 and then we drove the twenty minutes or so to the coast for sunrise. Each and every January 1st for the past 15 years I have toasted the family at breakfast with a cup of sake. Not this year.I have a good feeling about this year. I feel change is in the wind. I sincerely wish I could get my iMac working...

Wow Joe....just accessed + read your blog for the first time. ...matter of fact this be the first time ever me reading anyone's blog. ...matter of fact that be the first time ever me typing the word "blog"! [that there be the second] :-)

Anywho - you've been some real places, my friend. I'm sorry to have not been here for you - but I AM here now.

Several of 'us' have found ourselves at the edge of the abyss...more than once...over the past couple of years. Kelly has said "I can't help but think if we were all physically near one another as family, neighbors, community - we wouldn't have had to battle our demons alone." ...and having lost several battles myself, I see now that my fiercest demons were no match against a red-iguana and voodoo-man. So shine up your shields, mates - I'll do the same, and until the day comes when we're all in the same zip code, let's each remember to call for backup at the first stink of demon-breath, k??
